Meaning
Purpose, aim, objective; the end toward which one strives.
Literally: purpose; aim; objective
Usage & notes
Maqsad is purpose or aim, the end one strives toward. Iqbal holds that a great maqsad organises a life and a people, lifting them above aimless drift; the self grows by straining toward a worthy goal. A high purpose, for him, is the very engine of a living existence.
