Paikar

Paikar is the beloved's form — the whole shapely figure, the body as a vessel of beauty, sometimes the very image or icon of the loved one. It lets the poet praise not a single feature but the complete made thing, beauty embodied. In a Platonic-Sufi key, the visible paikar is the form through which an invisible meaning shines; the body becomes the image (icon) of a beauty that is not itself bodily.
