Saraab

सराब
said sa-raab
Meaning

A mirage, the illusion of water shimmering on the desert that deceives the thirsty traveller.

Usage & notes

The saraab is the deceiving appearance, the false promise that lures the seeker across the sand only to vanish. Iqbal uses it for the illusions of the world that mimic fulfilment yet leave the thirst unquenched.
