The self-disclosure of the divine Essence, the highest manifestation of God to the seeker.
Literally: the self-disclosure of the Divine Essence
The self-disclosure of God's very Essence (zaat) — the most exalted grade of divine manifestation in Sufi metaphysics, beyond the disclosures of names and attributes. It evokes the overwhelming theophany associated with Moses on Sinai, before which the mountain crumbled. In Iqbal's reading, each such divine disclosure summons the beholding self to a higher act and a stronger life, rather than annihilating it.
