Amaanat
A trust, something held in safekeeping; trustworthiness in honouring what is entrusted.
Literally: From the root a-m-n: that which is given over in trust.
Anything held in trust, and supremely the "Trust" of the Quran (33:72) which the heavens, earth and mountains declined but which humankind accepted — usually read as moral responsibility, free will and the burden of vicegerency. Iqbal exalts this acceptance: by taking up the amaanat that creation feared, the human being claimed a unique destiny of freedom and accountability, the very ground of khudi and khilafat.
Diyaanat
Honesty, integrity, trustworthy uprightness in dealings.
Wafa
Faithfulness, fidelity, keeping of the vow of love.
Ahd
An epoch or era; also a covenant or pledge.
Khilafat
Spiritual succession and authority conferred within an order.
Khalifa
A successor or vicegerent; the head of the Muslim community after the Prophet, and the human as God's steward on earth.
