How Iqbal uses it
Respected but distrusted as a sole guide. Left to rule alone, aql grows cold, cautious and finally timid — it can dissect a thing but never give itself to one. It is “a lamp for the road, not the destination,” and must be set alight by love. Sometimes, he says, let the heart slip its leash and leave reason behind.
