Faryaad
A cry for help; a complaint or appeal.
Literally: cry, lament, plea for redress
Faryaad is the lover's cry — the loud lament wrung from a heart broken by the beloved's cruelty or by the long pain of separation. It is grief that will not stay silent, the wail that rises to the heavens. The ghazal is full of these cries; for Iqbal the faryaad can become something larger — the protesting cry of the awakened soul, even the complaint (shikwa) flung at God, longing turned into a voice that demands rather than merely weeps.
Naala
A lament, wail, or plaintive cry.
Fughaan
A loud lament, wailing, or outcry.
Aah
A sigh; a groan of pain or longing.
Shikwa
Complaint and reproach; a grievance voiced to the beloved or to God.
Faryadi
A complainant or petitioner; one who cries out for justice.
