Hurriyat is freedom or liberty. Iqbal prizes it not as licence but as the dignity of a self that bows to God alone and therefore to no tyrant, no idol, no foreign master. True liberty for him begins within, in the conquest of one's own servility, and only then flowers into the freedom of a people.
