How Iqbal uses it

Faith — the believing assent of the heart to God, His messengers and the unseen, the foundation of being a momin. For Iqbal iman is not a passive creed but a living, active power: faith that does not issue in courage, character and deeds is hollow. He ties true iman to certitude (yaqeen) and to the creative self-affirmation of khudi.
