Ittehad
Union or identification, the contested mystical claim of the soul's becoming one with God.
Literally: union, concord, coming together as one
Ittihad is union — the coming-together of many into concord and common cause. Iqbal makes communal unity a recurring summons: he laments the divisions that weaken his people and calls them to bind in brotherhood across the lines that scatter them. He treats such union, grounded in shared faith and purpose, as the strength by which a community recovers dignity and freedom.
