Karamat

A marvel or charismatic grace worked through a saint (karamat), distinguished from the prophetic miracle (mu'jiza). Sufi piety prizes such wonders as signs of nearness to God. Iqbal, true to his reformist temper, treats the true "miracle" of faith as the transformation of the self and the conquest of the world by the believer's spirit, and looks askance at a religiosity that runs after wonder-working.
