Persian · adjective · Selfhood & Will

Khana-kharab

ख़ाना-ख़राब
also written: Khanakharab
Meaning

One whose house is ruined; wretched, destitute, undone.

Literally: Khana (house) plus kharab (ruined).

How Iqbal uses it

The term is half self-curse, half tender plea; Iqbal calls his own sin khana-kharab to stress the desolation of the wrongdoer who can only throw himself on his Lord's grace.
