Mehraab
मेहराब
said meh-RAAB
also written: Mehrab, Mihrab
Meaning
The niche in a mosque wall marking the direction of prayer toward Mecca.
Usage & notes
Iqbal uses the mehraab as the focal point of devotion, the arch toward which the worshipper bows. It becomes an emblem of the prayer-life he wishes to see rekindled with fire.
