Persian · noun · The Heart & the Body

Naumeedi

नाउम्मीदी
also written: Naumidi
Meaning

Hopelessness, despair.

Literally: From na- (not) and umeed (hope): the absence of hope.

How Iqbal uses it

Naumeedi, like yaas, is the condition Iqbal most warns against; for him despair forsakes divine mercy and one's own possibility, and the antidote is unkillable hope.
