Sarkashi

सरकशी
said sar-ka-shee
Meaning

Rebelliousness, defiance, insolent revolt.

Literally: defiance; insubordination; rebelliousness

Usage & notes

Sarkashi is the raising of one's head in defiance, a spirited refusal to submit. In Iqbal's ethic a measured sarkashi toward tyrants and false gods is the mark of a living self, not a fault. The believer bows to God alone, and so carries an unbroken pride before every earthly power.
