Saro

सर्व
said SAR-o
also written: Sarv
Meaning

The cypress tree.

Usage & notes

The tall, upright saro is the classic Persian emblem of the beloved's graceful stature and of freedom, since the cypress is called azad, the free one, standing erect and self-possessed. Iqbal draws on the free cypress as a figure of the unbowed self.
