Meaning
Freedom; (azad) free, liberated.
How Iqbal uses it
The falcon's whole calling and the free man's dignity. The “banda-e-azad,” the free servant, seeks no one's applause and asks for no reward. To the one who would cage him, Iqbal says: set me free, and take a captive's blessing for it.
