Sifat
The divine attributes; the qualities of God, such as mercy and power, distinct from His bare Essence.
Literally: the (divine) attributes
The Attributes of God — His qualities such as life, knowledge, power, will, hearing and seeing, through which the hidden Essence (zaat) is known and the world is governed. The insaan-e-kamil is classically the being in whom these divine attributes are most fully mirrored. Iqbal takes up this idea actively: the realized self reflects God's creative attributes, becoming His vicegerent by manifesting power, knowledge and will in the world.
Zat
The Essence; the very being of God in Himself, beyond names and attributes.
Asma
The Names of God; the ninety-nine beautiful names through which the Divine is known and invoked.
Zaat
Essence, self, the intrinsic being of a thing; also person or individual.
Naib
A deputy or vicegerent; in religious thought, the human as God's representative on earth.
