Meaning

Prostration; the act of bowing the forehead to the ground — owed to God, but demanded by tyrants of their subjects.

How Iqbal uses it

Iqbal forbids the believer's 'sijda' to any throne or idol of power; it belongs to God alone, and that refusal is freedom.
