Visaal-e-yaar

विसाल-ए-यार
said vi-SAAL-e-YAAR
also written: Visal-e-yar, wisal-e-yar, visaal-e-yaar
Meaning

Union with the friend; the attainment of the beloved.

Literally: union with the beloved

Usage & notes

Visaal-e-yaar is union with the beloved — the named prize of the whole quest, the night or the eternity of being one with the cherished face. The phrase concentrates all the lyric's hope into three syllables. In the Sufi reading it is union with the Divine Friend, the homecoming the soul was made for; poets describe a life spent wholly in pursuit of this single consummation, beside which all else is waiting.
