“How will they ever manage to love well — the ones who are so busy being good at their studies?”

The verse in Devanagari — it carries the authenticity of the original, and every Hindi reader can read it.
A professor's joke with a real observation folded inside it. The model student — all method, all good marks — is exactly the one least prepared for love, which rewards none of the things that earn a high grade. It lands because it is self-aware: the man saying it teaches for a living, and knows the virtues of the classroom do not survive contact with the heart.
The discipline that wins you marks — caution, method, doing precisely what is asked — is not the discipline that helps you love. Being good at the syllabus does not make you good at the things that were never on it.
