The jhonka is a single waft or gust of breeze — a brief, passing breath of air that carries a scent or a coolness and is gone. In the Hindavi register it gives a felt, momentary touch of wind rather than a sustained current. It belongs to the family of garden breezes (saba, naseem) as the smallest, most fleeting of their gestures.
