Mardaangi is manliness in the moral sense — courage, firmness, and the resolve to stand and act. Iqbal uses the figure of the true man (mard, mard-e-momin) for the fully realised self: bold, self-respecting, master of his own will. Mardaangi for him is not swagger but the inner virility of one who dares, endures, and refuses to be cowed.
