Mazloom

मज़लूम
said maz-LOOM
also written: Mazlum
Meaning

One who is wronged or oppressed; the victim of tyranny.

Literally: the oppressed; one who is wronged

Usage & notes

The mazloom is the oppressed one, the victim of zulm. Iqbal stands consistently with the mazloom, the colonised, the peasant, the labourer, and rouses them to claim their dignity rather than accept their wronging as fate. Their cry, he holds, is heard in heaven even when the earth ignores it.
