Qaus-e-Quzah

क़ौस-ए-क़ुज़ह
said qaus-e-qu-ZAH
also written: qaus-e-quzah, rainbow, dhanak
Meaning

The rainbow.

Literally: the bow of Quzah (rainbow)

Usage & notes

The qaus-e-quzah is the rainbow — literally the 'bow of Quzah,' the seven-coloured arc thrown across the sky after rain, an emblem of fleeting, many-hued beauty and of the spectrum hidden in plain light. It marries cloud, water and sun into a momentary splendour. As an image of unity dispersed into colours, it suits Iqbal's interest in the one light that breaks into many hues, the single ray spread into a visible band.
