The courtyard or open ground of the rose-garden.

How Iqbal uses it

The sahn-e-gulistan is the green expanse of the rose-garden where Iqbal stages bird and blossom, freedom and bondage; the nightingale singing in its open court is the recurring scene of yearning and song.
