Shukr

शुक्र
said SHUKR
also written: shukr, shukar, gratitude
Meaning

Gratitude; thankfulness to God for His blessings, counted among the stations of the path.

Literally: thankfulness; gratitude

Usage & notes

Gratitude to God — the recognition and acknowledgement of His blessings, paired classically with sabr (patience) as the two halves of faith. The Quran promises increase to the thankful. In Iqbal's spirit, true shukr is not merely verbal thanks but the active use of God's gifts and powers in creative, worthy works — gratitude proven in deed.
