Literally: mercy; compassion
The mercy of God — His all-encompassing compassion, named at the head of nearly every Quranic chapter (al-Rahman, al-Rahim) and declared to embrace all things. Iqbal holds the divine mercy in view alongside the divine majesty (jalal), and reads the Prophet as "a mercy to the worlds." Mercy, for him, grounds the believer's hope and the dignity conferred on the human vicegerent.

A blessing or favour bestowed by God.

Majesty, awe-inspiring glory; overpowering splendour.

Fear and hope together; the believer's balanced posture of dread of God's justice and hope in His mercy.
