Literally: majesty; divine awe-inspiring power
The Majesty of God — His attributes of power, awe, wrath and overwhelming greatness, classically paired with jamal, His beauty and gentleness. Sufi metaphysics sees the cosmos as the interplay of jalal and jamal. Iqbal is drawn to the dimension of jalal — strength, grandeur, the heroic — as the quality the believing self must reflect, tempering the merely soft and sentimental in piety.

Beauty, comeliness; in mysticism the aspect of divine grace, opposed to jalaal (majesty).
