How Iqbal uses it
Subh-e-sadiq is the 'true dawn' — the genuine first light of morning, distinguished in tradition from the 'false dawn' (subh-e-kazib) that briefly glimmers then fades; it marks the real break of day from which prayer and fasting begin. It is authentic, lasting daybreak. Iqbal uses the true dawn for the real awakening as opposed to a false or borrowed one: the genuine morning of a people and a self, the light that does not flicker out but ripens into full day.
