Spiritual intoxication — the rapturous, self-losing drunkenness of the mystic overwhelmed by the presence of God, classically contrasted with sahw, sober return to self-possession. The Sufi schools differed over which is higher. Iqbal's sympathies lie with the sober station: a self awakened and in command, not one dissolved in intoxication — consonant with his preference for an enduring, active selfhood over self-effacement.
Wajd

Spiritual sobriety, the lucid return to self-awareness after ecstatic intoxication.
Fana
Annihilation, passing away; the mystic's extinction of the self in the Beloved, the goal of the Sufi path.
