Beqarari

बेक़रारी
said be-qa-RAA-ri
also written: beqarari, beqaraari, be-qarari
Meaning

Restlessness, the inability to find rest.

Literally: restlessness, agitation

Usage & notes

Beqarari is restlessness — the lover's inability to find rest or quiet, the constant agitation of a heart that cannot settle while the beloved is away. It is longing turned to motion, pacing, sleeplessness, the soul that has lost its repose (qaraar). The ghazal makes this unrest a mark of true love; a heart that can be calm has not truly loved, and the lover almost cherishes the beqarari as proof of how deeply he wants.
