One who hears and redresses complaints; a helper of the aggrieved.

Literally: reacher of the complaint (faryad + ras)

How Iqbal uses it

The succourer who answers the cry of the oppressed, whether a just king, a saint or God. A word charged with the hope of justice for the wronged.
