How Iqbal uses it

Jur'at-e-rindana is the rakish, fearless daring of the free spirit who flouts hollow convention. Iqbal admires the rind — the unconventional, self-possessed soul who answers to inner truth rather than outward propriety — and exalts the boldness with which such a one dares to question and to overreach. This audacity is, for him, closer to the living self than the timid correctness of the conformist.
