Meaning

The meeting with God; the encounter of the soul with its Lord, the goal of the believer's longing.

How Iqbal uses it

The "meeting" with God — a Quranic term (liqa Allah) for the encounter with one's Lord, especially in the hereafter, and a goal of the yearning heart. It belongs to the family of words (deedar, ru'yat, wisal) for beholding and union with the Divine. In Iqbal's frame this hope of meeting God energizes striving in this life rather than counselling retreat from it.
