Mahbub
Beloved, darling; the one held dear.
Literally: beloved, dearly loved one
Mehboob is the beloved — the dear one, warmer and more tender than the formal mashooq, the face the heart calls its own. It can name a human darling or, lifted up, the Divine Beloved and the Prophet (the mahbub of God). The whole emotional gravity of the lyric bends toward the mehboob: every road, every tear, every sleepless night is addressed to that single cherished one.
