The formula "hama az oost," "all is from Him" — the affirmation that everything proceeds from God as its source while remaining distinct from Him, set against "hama oost" ("all is He"). This phrase expresses the position Iqbal favours: a world genuinely created by God and dependent on Him, yet real and other than Him, leaving room for the abiding individual self and for moral action in a world that is not simply an illusion of the One.
