Arabic · noun · Being & Non-Being
Wahdat-ul-Wujood
वहदत-उल-वुजूद
said vah-dat-ul-vu-jood
also written: Wahdat-ul-Wujud
Meaning
The doctrine of the Unity of Being, that all existence is a single reality identical with God.
Literally: oneness of being
Usage & notes
Wahdat-ul-wujud, the Unity of Being associated with Ibn Arabi, is the metaphysics Iqbal most pointedly criticised. He saw its merging of all into one Being as draining the world of reality and the self of will, and opposed it with his fortified, distinct khudi.
