Khud-bini
Egotism, self-regard, being wrapped up in oneself.
Literally: seeing oneself; self-regard (positive or negative)
Khudbeeni is literally self-seeing — and Iqbal uses it on two edges. In its noble sense it is the self's clear regard for its own worth and powers, kin to self-knowledge and self-respect; in its base sense it is conceited self-absorption. He values the self-awareness that affirms khudi while warning against the vanity that turns inward gaze into mere self-worship.
Khud-bini in Iqbal’s couplets
Khuda bande se khud pooche, bata teri raza kya hai
Hue kis darja faqeehan-e-haram be-taufeeq
Khulte hain ghulamon par asrar-e-shahanshahi
Ya to khud aashkar ho ya mujhe aashkar kar
Rasta bhi dhund khizr ka sauda bhi chhod de
Ki fitrat khud-ba-khud karti hai laale ki hina-bandi
Khud-pasandi
Self-conceit, egotism, excessive self-approval.
Ghuroor
Pride, arrogance, vain self-conceit.
Khud-aagahi
Self-awareness, self-consciousness; awareness of one's own being.
Khudi
Selfhood; the self, the ego — in the philosophical, not the vain, sense.
