How Iqbal uses it
Khudshinaasi is the knowledge of one's own self — recognising the depth, power, and purpose latent within. It lies at the heart of Iqbal's teaching: he holds that to know God one must first know the self, and that a person or nation ignorant of its own worth will wander enslaved. Self-knowledge for him is the gateway to self-affirmation, the first step from which khudi rises.
