The verse in Devanagari — it carries the authenticity of the original, and every Hindi reader can read it.

The Interpretation

The couplet weighs two kinds of transformation against each other — the lover made a madman by love, the beloved made a legend by being loved. There is wit in the asymmetry and a faint accusation too: his ruin becomes her glory, and the poem records the exchange without bitterness, almost as tribute.

For You, Today

The people who unsettle you most often end up immortalised by your own telling — be careful whose legend you are quietly building.

It captures the classic ghazal bargain where the lover pays in sanity and the beloved is paid in fame.
