In Sufi psychology, the secret or innermost core of the heart, the deepest subtle centre where the soul meets the Divine; more broadly, the hidden mystery of a thing. Iqbal often writes of the asrar (secrets) of the self and of existence — the inner truths that disciplined love and reflection unveil. His first great Persian poem was titled Asrar-e-Khudi, "The Secrets of the Self."
