How Iqbal uses it

Soz-o-gudaaz is burning-and-melting — the lover's inner fire (soz) and the softening, dissolving tenderness (gudaaz) it produces, named together as the very temperature of a loving heart. It is what makes a verse, a voice, a life move others: warmth that has passed through pain. Iqbal prizes this quality above cold intellect; soz-o-gudaaz is the heat that fuses thought with feeling and gives both poetry and the self their power to kindle others.
