musafir hain ham bhi musafir ho tum bhi
kisi mod par phir mulaqat hogi

We are travellers, and so are you — at some turning of the road we will meet again.

मुसाफ़िर हैं हम भी मुसाफ़िर हो तुम भी
किसी मोड़ पर फिर मुलाक़ात होगी

The verse in Devanagari — it carries the authenticity of the original, and every Hindi reader can read it.

The Interpretation

The couplet levels every distinction between two people into one shared fact: both are travellers. From that equality comes its comfort — a parting is only a bend in the road, not an ending. Badr leaves the reunion uncertain in place but certain in fact.

For You, Today

When you part from someone, hold the parting lightly — the road has more turnings, and meeting again is one of them.

A favourite farewell verse, it softens separation by making it provisional.
