How Iqbal uses it
Aabroo is one's good name and dignity — literally the lustre of the face that disgrace would wash away. Iqbal treats its preservation as bound up with self-respect: a person guards their aabroo by not begging, not cringing, not selling their integrity for advantage. He warns that a name kept bright through servility is no honour at all, since true aabroo rests on the unbought self.
